How to Play

Play Worm Challenge game online for free. Worm Challenge is a snake based video game with multilevel options. Navigate the worm to consume all the fruits to unlock each level as it avoids bumping into rocks, walls, and it's own tail. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

To begin the game, select the play arrow button below the Worm Challenge title.
- This will lead you to the level select screen. It will show you unlocked levels or you can start from level 1.
- The game automatically stores your level progress in your local web browser.
- On the level select screen, there are several available game options:
  - The 1st button with the door icon on the upper left side does not function.
  - The 2nd button on the left side is the full screen icon. Select it put your view on full screen mode.
    - Click on the button again or press the ESC button on your keyboard to toggle full screen “off”.
    - The 1st button on the bottom right corner is the music button. This looks like a note. Select it to toggle music “on” or “off.” If the note is gray, the music is off. When colored, it’s on.
    - The 2nd button on the bottom right corner is the sound button. This looks like a megaphone speaker. Select it to toggle sound effects “on” or “off.” If the speaker is gray, the music is off. When colored, it’s on.
    - To begin the game, click or tap on your desired level available.
      - Play and complete each level. Try to unlock all 10 levels of the game.
      - Opening How To Play Screen
        When you start playing, brief instructions on how to play the game is shown on the screen.
        Simply tap or click the screen to begin playing.
        Game Controls
        Touchscreen
        The game uses tap and drag controls on your touchscreen.
        To navigate your worm left, right, up, or down, tap on the screen then drag it to your desired direction. One you release your finger, that’s when the worm assumes your direction.
        Mouse and Keyboard
        The game uses mouse with click and drag controls.
        To move your worm left, right, up, or down, click and hold on the left mouse button then drag the cursor to your desired direction. Once you release, that’s when the worm assumes your direction.
        If you play this game on desktop it is best to play it as a standalone web app rather than playing in the page, as if the mouse gets outside of the game window then the worm will not turn when you drag your mouse.
        Timing when to drag your worm’s direction is crucial. To early and you might miss a fruit; too late and you might bump into a rock. Be precise with your movement.
        Other In-Game Options
        The score or apple count is displayed on the top left corner of the screen.
        Collect apples scattered across the map to maximize your apple count.
        The pause and menu button is available on the top right corner of the screen.
        Click it to pause the game when you need a break.
        It also comes with sound settings and other game options.

        To adjust the volume of the sound effects, drag the bar right for lower volume, and left for higher volume.
        There are 2 buttons in the middle of the Pause screen: the music and sound button.
        Click the music button to toggle the in-game music “on” or “off”.
        Click the sound button to toggle the in-game sound effects “on” or “off”.
        Next, you’ll find the music bar below the 2 buttons.
        To adjust the volume of game’s music, drag the bar right for lower volume, and left for higher volume.
        At the bottom of the Pause screen 4 game buttons.
        The 1st button is the full screen toggle button. Click it to put your game on full screen.
        The 2nd button with the hamburger icon is the level select button. Click it to redirect you to the level select screen.
        The 3rd button with the refresh icon is the refresh level button. Click it to restart your current level if you want to restore your game.
        The 4th button is the play icon to go back to your game. Click it to unpause and resume playing your level.
        Game Over Screen Display
        If you lose, you will be re-directed to the Game Over Screen.
        It will display your last current score and best score.
        You will also have the option to select the following:
        Play the game in full screen. This is the 1st button on the top left corner of the screen.
        Go back to level select screen. This is the 2nd button on the top left corner of the screen with the hamburger icon.
        Toggle in-game sound “on” or “off.” This is the first button with the sound icon on the top right corner of the screen.
        Toggle in-game music “on” or “off. This is the second button with the music icon on the top right corner of the screen.
        Strategy
        This is an intense fruit eating snake game inspired by the classic snake video game with level options and drag controls. Like the old game, consuming apples will gain you points and will make the snake longer.
        But unlike its precursor, this version is not infinite. It comes with 10 levels with different terrains, each one more challenging than the other.
        The goal is to collect and consume all of the apples across the map to finish each level.
        Bumping on the rocks anywhere on the map will make you lose the game.
        The snake can be navigated in 4 directions: left, right, up, or down. Be comfortable with the controls and collect fruits scattered across the map safely.
        Courses and Navigating the Worm
        The game gets more challenging as the terrain gets busier with rocks and other obstructions.
        Be sure to avoid rocks and other obstacles. A good tip is to move toward your preferred direction swiftly and ahead of time.
        Note that your moves will only register after you release a click or tap when you apply your move.
        Some fruits may be too close to rocks. When this happens, you must swiftly move to another direction before your worm hits it.
        This game is best played on touchscreen using a mobile phone or tablet, and laptop touchscreens. It works well on iPad, iPhone, and Android. The mouse controls work, but may not be as responsive or intuitive as touchscreen controls.
        Enjoy unlocking all 10 levels. You can replay each level to relive the challenge over and over again.
        Try to beat your best score. You can even compare scores with your friends to see who plays the game best.
